Bomet woman accused of killing boyfriend in dispute over mobile phone

Shock and grief have gripped Samoget village in Bomet East Sub-county after a 25-year-old woman allegedly killed her boyfriend during a domestic dispute reportedly triggered by a disagreement over a mobile phone.

Bomet East Sub-county Police Commander Michael Singa confirmed the incident, identifying the suspect as Faith Cherono.

She allegedly visited her boyfriend, Emanuel Kiprono, 33, at his home on Tuesday to demand the return of a mobile phone she claimed belonged to her.

Although the two reportedly agreed to resolve the matter later in the day, witnesses later saw them walking together towards the Mau Forest area.

According to police investigations, it was in the forest that Cherono is believed to have fatally attacked Kiprono, striking him at the back of the head with a sword.

Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene and crossed into neighboring Narok County, where she later surrendered at Tendwet Police Station.
