Reveler losses Sh920,000 after stupefying incident in Sagana, Kirinyaga County

Police in Kirinyaga County have launched investigations into a suspected stupefying and theft incident reported in Sagana Township.

According to the police, the incident is said to have occurred on the night of April 24, 2026, at Starwood Gardens.

The complainant told the police that he had arranged to meet a woman known to him at the venue. The woman reportedly arrived in the company of another female.

He stated that he ordered drinks for the group, but later found himself alone at the premises under unclear circumstances, raising suspicion that he may have been drugged.

Upon regaining awareness, he discovered that large sums of money had been withdrawn from his bank account at Equity Bank.

The transactions included withdrawals of Sh700,000, Sh14,000, and Sh80,000, totalling Sh920,000.

Police officers visited the scene and commenced investigations.

Authorities are working to trace the suspects and establish the exact sequence of events, including how the funds were accessed and withdrawn.

The man was taken to hospital for medical attention.

Cases involving suspected stupefying substances have been on the rise, with police urging members of the public to exercise caution when meeting unfamiliar individuals and to closely monitor their drinks in social settings.

No arrest had been made by Sunday morning but police said they were pursuing good leads on the same.

Such cases of stupefying have been on the rise in some clubs in the area. Police said they had recorded a surge in the incidents and the gang behind the same came from in and around Nairobi.

In some unfortunate incidents, victims of stupefying have lost their lives after being heavily drugged, hence the need to exercise caution and always party around known friends who would have your back in case of such danger, police say.
