As the upcoming Africa Championship (CHAN) tournament taking place on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Nairobi Traffic Department has announced several road closures and traffic diversions to facilitate smooth movement and ensure security during the event.
Road Closures:
The following roads will be closed to traffic during the event:
- Aerodrome Road – Closed from Madaraka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout.
- Lang’ata Road – One side will be closed from Madaraka Roundabout to Lusaka Roundabout.
- Mombasa Road – One side will be closed from Lusaka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout.
Traffic Diversions:
Motorists are advised to use the following alternative routes:
- From Mombasa Road to CBD:
Use Likoni Road via Enterprise Road at General Motors, or the Southern Bypass via Ole Sereni. - From Lang’ata Road to CBD:
Use either Raila Odinga Road or Muhoho Road at Mbagathi Roundabout. - From Nairobi CBD to Thika Road / Ruiru / Juja / Thika:
Use Limuru Road or Kiambu Road. - Public Service Vehicles (Matatus) heading to Kasarani Stadium:
Use Ruaraka Baba Dogo Road and Ngomongo Road, joining at Ngomongo Roundabout. - From Thika Road to Nairobi CBD:
Use Eastern Bypass, Kiambu Road, or Limuru Road. - General Advisory:
Avoid using Thika Road unless you are heading to Kasarani Stadium.
