President William Ruto has launched the construction of the 18-kilometre Mogondo-Cheramgoi-Mogor-Soit road in Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Narok County, as part of efforts to improve transport and boost economic activity in the region.
The road is expected to improve movement of people and goods while opening up previously underserved areas within Emurua Dikirr.
Ruto said the government also plans to establish a major road corridor connecting the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway to Migori County through Salgaa, Embomoss, Siongiroi, Emurua Dikirr and Enoosaen.
“To further open up Emurua Dikirr part of Narok County, we will link the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway to a new corridor through Salgaa-Embomoss-Siongiroi-Emurua Dikirr-Enoosaen road and extend it all the way to Migori County,” Ruto said.
The President said the proposed connection would improve regional accessibility and create new opportunities for trade and investment.
“This new road will strengthen connectivity and unlock greater economic opportunities in the region,” he said.
During his engagement with residents, Ruto also outlined the government’s development agenda and updated locals on projects being implemented across the country.
He used the occasion to urge political leaders to reject violence and pursue political competition through peaceful and constructive engagement.
Ruto said political differences should not be used as a justification for violence, emphasising that leaders should instead compete through policies and development plans.
“Political competition must be about ideas, plans and vision not violence,” the President said.
He called on leaders and their supporters to embrace peaceful politics, saying development can only be achieved when communities remain united and focused on improving the lives of citizens.
