Six years later: Esther Musila discloses Guardian Angel’s song Rada was genesis of their romance

For Kenyan gospel personality and international civil servant Esther Musila, the spark that ignited one of Kenya’s most talked-about celebrity love stories wasn’t a chance meeting at a party or a mutual friend’s setup, it was a song.

On March 13, 2020, Esther took to social media to share a deeply personal reflection about that day six years ago when her life took an unexpected turn.

“This is the day that the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be GLAD in it,” she wrote.

“Today marks 6 years since we first met, courtesy of the song Rada. Our union would not have happened any other way… I could not have even imagined how much our friendship would mean to me, and this far, we have come. I am grateful to have you in my life. Happy Friendversary my husband Peter Audiphaxad Omwaka. I love you.”

Esther’s heartfelt caption accompanied throwback photos and served as a powerful reminder of just how unexpected love can be.

Rada: The Song That Changed Everything

The romance between Esther Musila, a 55‑year‑old mother of three, seasoned United Nations professional, and vibrant gospel enthusiast, and Grammy‑nominated singer Guardian Angel (real name Peter Audiphaxad Omwaka) didn’t follow a conventional path.

Esther first encountered Guardian Angel’s music on radio when veteran broadcaster Maina Kageni played Rada on Classic 105 FM.

She was immediately captivated by the song’s emotive message.

“I met Guardian because of a song that I heard,” Esther recalled in earlier interviews.

“It was just written for me… I’d never heard of Guardian Angel before, but that song spoke to my heart.”

Her curiosity led her to text Maina Kageni to ask who the artiste behind Rada was, a move that ultimately connected her to Guardian Angel.

What was initially intended as a chance to support and perhaps manage a talented yet under‑the‑radar musician quickly blossomed into something much more profound.

A Love Story That Defied Expectations

Esther and Guardian Angel’s relationship has often been in the spotlight, not just for its beginning but for what it represents.

The couple’s significant age difference, nearly two decades, sparked debate and criticism online, with many questioning how sustainable their relationship could be.

But through it all, Esther has stood firm, proclaiming that she lives her life “by her rules” and cherishes the joy and fulfilment her union has brought her.

Guardian Angel, for his part, has spoken candidly about not seeking a life partner when he met Esther, yet acknowledging that her support, both in music and in life became something he was deeply treasured.

Their connection grew so quickly that they moved in together just weeks after meeting.

In January 2022, the pair sealed their love in a private wedding, and since then they have continued to build a life rooted in mutual admiration, faith, and creativity.

Alongside their shared ministry, they’ve even launched a record label called 7 Heaven aimed at nurturing gospel talent.

Six Years On, Love, Faith and Gratitude

Today, six years after that fateful March meeting inspired by Rada, Esther Musila’s 2026 tribute stands as both a celebration and testimony, not just to love that defies societal expectations, but to divine timing.

In her words, God had plans for their journey that neither of them could have imagined.

And it all began with a song.
