Three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Willis Ayieko, the Human Resource Manager at Wells Fargo, appeared at the Siaya High Court on Monday for a pre-trial conference.
The suspects Victor Ouma Okoth, also known as Sisco, Duncan Ochieng (Otuchi), and Samuel Onyango (Jaboda) were apprehended in October 2024.
They appeared before Judge David Kemei, who is overseeing the case.
The accused denied their involvement in Ayieko’s murder and, through their lawyers, applied for bail.
However, Justice Kemei rejected the bail request and ordered that the three suspects be remanded at Kodiaga Maximum Prison, where they will remain until the hearing scheduled for May 26 and 27, 2025.
Additionally, the court instructed that Duncan Ochieng be transferred from Siaya GK Prison to Kodiaga Maximum Prison in Kisumu County.
As for the bail application of the third suspect, Justice Kemei stated that a ruling will be made by April 8, 2025.
The case stems from the discovery of Ayieko’s decomposing body in a shallow stream on October 23, 2024, three days after he was reported missing in Gem Yala sub-county.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident.
