Three suspects have been arrested and several crude weapons recovered following a police operation targeting a group allegedly preparing to engage in criminal activities in Garissa Town.
The suspects were apprehended by officers from Garissa Police Station in the Bulla Sagarey area after police acted on intelligence regarding a group believed to be involved in planned criminal activities.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the officers encountered a group of nine individuals during the operation. The group allegedly resisted arrest and became violent, confronting the officers and causing injuries in the process.
Despite the resistance, police managed to arrest three suspects and recover assorted crude weapons believed to have been intended for use in criminal activities.
The recovered items are now being held as exhibits as investigations continue into the activities of the group and their possible involvement in previous offences within the area.
Police have launched a manhunt for the remaining suspects who escaped during the operation, with efforts underway to track them down and bring them to justice.
The three suspects currently in custody are expected to be processed and arraigned in court to face relevant charges.
The National Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order, warning individuals involved in criminal activities that security agencies will continue conducting intelligence-led operations to protect residents and enhance public safety.
Police have also urged members of the public to continue sharing information on suspicious activities, noting that community cooperation remains critical in preventing crime and supporting security operations.
