A team of detectives from the DCI Headquarters Operation Action Team (OAT) arrested three notorious robbery suspects linked to a string of violent robberies in Westlands and other parts of Nairobi and recovered a Retay Falcon pistol.
Following painstaking investigations that meticulously pieced together the suspects’ criminal trail, detectives conducted an intelligence-led operation along Ngina Road in Kawangware and arrested Nimrod Khayeshe, alias Buba.
Upon interrogation, the suspect led detectives to his accomplices, Vangelis Njungi, aka Vangi and Patrick Kingato, who were swiftly arrested.
During the operation, detectives recovered a Retay Falcon pistol fitted with a magazine loaded with three rounds of 9mm ammunition. Also recovered were two motorcycles, believed to be their getaway bikes during the robberies.
The three suspects are in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the recovered pistol and motorcycles are being detained as exhibits.
This operation underscores the Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ resolve to relentlessly pursue criminals and dismantle criminal networks through intelligence-led operations across the country, officials said.
Meanwhile, detectives from the DCI Headquarters’ Land Fraud Investigations Unit apprehended Joseph Njuguna Kamau, a suspect connected to the fraudulent transfer of a parcel of land in Gilgil, Nakuru County.
The complainant reported that she is the rightful owner of a land parcel in Kikopey measuring approximately 0.405 hectares, having acquired it from a seller who had shares with Mawingu Gwikana Gwika Women Self Help Group Enterprises. Later on, she was evicted from her parcel of land.
Investigations revealed that the land in question had been fraudulently sold to another unsuspecting buyer by the suspect, who was serving as the company secretary of Mawingu Gwikana Gwika Women Self Help Group Enterprises at the time of the incident.
Upon completing the investigations, the case file was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), which approved charges for Conspiracy to Defraud and Obtaining Registration by False Pretences against the suspect.
Kamau was subsequently trailed and arrested in the Miharati area and was escorted to Naivasha Police Station pending arraignment at the Naivasha Law Courts.
