Tragedy in the Ring: Kenyan boxer Jacob Oyoko dies after shocking ringside collapse


Kenya’s boxing fraternity is in mourning following the sudden and heartbreaking death of professional fighter Jacob Oyoko, who collapsed during a bout in a tragic incident that has reignited concerns over athlete safety in the sport.

Oyoko, a Kisumu-based boxer, reportedly suffered a medical emergency during a professional fight on Saturday, March 28, 2026. Witnesses say the match had been progressing normally before the situation quickly turned dire, leaving fans and officials in shock.
