The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the availability of 28,647 teaching positions, inviting qualified and interested candidates to apply.
In a statement released on December 16, TSC revealed 19,943 promotional vacancies in line with the Career Progression Guidelines for Teachers, along with an additional 8,707 openings to replace teachers who left due to natural attrition.
The promotions span a range of positions, including Chief Principals, Senior Principals, Principals, Deputy Principals, Senior Lecturers, Senior Masters, Secondary Teacher I, Senior Headteachers (for special schools), Headteachers, Deputy Headteachers, and Senior Teachers.
Interested applicants must submit their applications online through the TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke by midnight on December 30, 2024.
Among the key positions are 44 vacancies for Chief Principal in regular schools.
To qualify, candidates must have served as a Senior Principal at T-Scale 14 for a minimum of three years and have received a satisfactory performance appraisal rating.
Applicants must also demonstrate the ability to supervise and mentor teachers, along with meeting any other requirements set by the TSC.
Additionally, there are 3 Chief Principal vacancies for Teacher Training Colleges (TTC) at T-Scale 15, with the same qualifications required.
TSC is also advertising 126 Senior Principal vacancies for regular secondary schools (T-Scale 14).
Applicants for these roles must have served as a Principal or Deputy Principal I at T-Scale 13 for at least three years, with satisfactory performance reviews.
Similar qualifications apply for three Chief Principal positions at TTC (T-Scale 14).
Further openings include 652 Principal positions at T-Scale 13, for which candidates must have at least six months of experience as Deputy Principal II or Senior Master I at T-Scale 12.
The TSC has also advertised 3 Deputy Principal (TTC) positions at T-Scale 13 and 786 Deputy Principal II (Post-Primary) positions at T-Scale 12, with similar experience and performance requirements.
Other positions available include Senior Lecturer I (TTC) with 13 vacancies, Deputy Principal III (Secondary School) with 1,408 openings, and various roles such as Senior Lecturer II (TTC) with 32 positions, Senior Master II (Secondary SNE) with 2 posts, Senior Master III (Regular School) with 1,987 posts, and Senior Lecturer III (TTC) with 61 openings.
Additionally, there are 2,221 vacancies for Senior Master IV, 1,364 Senior Teacher II (Regular Primary School) positions, and 81 Senior Teacher I (SNE Primary School) openings, among others.
In terms of replacements, TSC has announced 5,862 vacancies for primary school teachers, 21 for junior secondary schools, and 2,824 for secondary schools.
These roles will be offered on permanent and pensionable terms.
To qualify for these recruitment opportunities, applicants must be Kenyan citizens, hold a P1 certificate for primary school positions or a diploma in education for junior and secondary school roles, and be registered with the TSC.
Applications for these positions must be submitted online via the TSC website at www.tsc.go.ke or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke between December 31, 2024, and January 13, 2025.
Preference will be given to candidates who have not previously been employed by the Teachers Service Commission.
