Detectives arrested two suspects following an incident where a night guard was hacked to death in a robbery in Hamisi, Vihiga County.
A gang had raided Abundance Church School on February 24 dawn and attacked Derick Oyando killing him. A colleague was also wounded in the drama.
The gang stole unknown valuables from the institution as they escaped. Police later mounted an operation that saw two people arrested in Mumias West area and recovered a blood stained metal rod.
Police said the hunt for more suspects was ongoing and that the body of the victim was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Elsewhere in Macalder, Migori County, the body of a man was found in a footpath after a suspected murder.
Police said they suspect the victim was killed elsewhere and his body was later dumped at the secondary scene.
The motive of the murder was not established even as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police said they were investigating murder in the incident.
Elsewhere in Katito, Kisumu County, a suspected thug was lynched by a mob in a failed cattle rustling incident.
A second suspect was injured before being rescued to the hospital.
In Rangwe, Homa Bay County’s Angongo village, one Samson Were who had been missing was found drowned in a local river.
The 45-year-old man was missing for days before his body was discovered in river Rangwe, police said adding he was naked when he was found.
The body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.
And a 15-year-old man was admitted in hospital after he had been attacked and seriously wounded by a hippopotamus in Madogo, Tana River County.
The boy had taken his family goats to a watering point along Tana River in Adama village when he was attacked by the wild animal that was grazing in nearby bushes.
He had multiple injuries on his legs when he was rescued and rushed to the hospital. The animal had escaped the scene amid hunt on it by the villagers.
Kenya Wildlife Service officials were informed and said they were working to remove it from the area.
