A 48-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Obunga Market area, Kisumu Central Sub-County, on Thursday morning.
The deceased, identified as Margaret Adisa Luhya, was discovered after her husband, who was away at his place of work, received a call from a neighbour informing him of her death at about 7am.
The scene was processed by police crime scene personnel before the body was moved to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for preservation and further examination.
Police said the deceased was known to be a heavy consumer of illicit brew. The circumstances surrounding her death were not immediately established, with investigations expected to determine the cause.
Elsewhere, a 43-year-old man was found murdered in his house in Bosire Village, Butula Sub-County, Busia County, on Thursday morning.
Bonface Otieno Ogalo was discovered lying in a pool of blood in the sitting room of his house, with deep cut wounds on his forehead and the back of his head. He also had a fractured left wrist.
Police officers rushed to the scene and established that Ogalo lived alone.
Neighbours told police that they had last seen him alive and in good health on Wednesday night. However, blood stains were discovered on the floor and door of his house the following morning, raising suspicion that he had been attacked inside the residence.
The motive of the killing was not immediately established, and no arrests had been reported by Thursday.
The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was moved to Same Day Classmates Funeral Parlour, where it was being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing.
