Woman smuggling Sh3.6 million worth of cocaine in her stomach nabbed at JKIA


Kenyan security agencies have continued to win praise for their intensified crackdown on terror, narcotics, and other criminal activities across the country including the recent arrest of a woman smuggling drugs into Kenya.

On Monday evening, November 24, Kenyans flocked to social media to commend the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) after the arrest of a female drug mule at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

According to information shared on the DCI’s official platforms, the woman was apprehended while attempting to enter the country with cocaine concealed in her stomach.

Her plot was foiled after ANU detectives intercepted her moments after landing.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Muli Ayan Ndunge, had just arrived from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, when detectives, acting on precise intelligence, closed in on her quietly.

She was escorted to the ANU offices for observation, where she expelled 14 pellets of cocaine within minutes.

Detectives, confident there was more, maintained close surveillance.

Shortly after, another 14 pellets were recovered, bringing the total to 28 pellets weighing 912.74 grams, with an estimated street value of Sh3,650,960.

A follow-up X-ray scan confirmed that her stomach was clear, clinching the case with medical certainty.

Ndunge remains in custody as detectives prepare to arraign her in court.

Her arrest sparked widespread reactions online, with many Kenyans taking to the DCI comment section to applaud the officers for their diligence.
