A 12-year-old boy died in a tragic accident in Baringo County after an electricity pole reportedly fell on him while he was riding on a motorcycle.
The deceased was being carried on a motorcycle towards Longewan Trading Centre when the incident occurred.
According to police, the motorcycle rider and the pillion passenger encountered a loose hanging cable allegedly belonging to Kenya Power and Lighting Company.
Police said that as the rider attempted to lift the cable from the ground to allow them pass, the electricity pole fell and struck the boy on the head.
The child was rushed to Marigat Sub County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
His body was later moved to Baringo County Referral Hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.
And police in Trans Nzoia County are investigating the brutal murder of a 45-year-old man whose body was found in his house with severe cut wounds and a slit throat.
The deceased, identified as Harrison Yator, had reportedly arrived at his farm in Mogoiwo Village, Milimani Sublocation when the incident happened Sunday night, police said.
According to police, screams were heard coming from his house at around 8:30pm by villagers who rushed to the scene. However, they found the house locked from outside.
When they checked through the window, they discovered his body lying in a pool of blood with deep cuts.
The matter was reported to local authorities before officers from Cherangany Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations visited and processed the scene.
Police said the body had severe cuts on the head and legs and the throat had been slit.
The body was moved to Cherangany Nursing Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
Investigators said the motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
A team revisited the scene on Tuesday as part of the probe into the murder.
