A 26-year-old man was found with a deep cut wound to his chest in an isolated field in the Red Soil area of Kasarani, Nairobi, before he was rushed to a nearby health facility where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased, identified as Dennis Maina Muthee, was found by Good Samaritans who reportedly heard him crying for help at about 9.30pm on Saturday.
The Samaritans rushed him to Redsoil Prime Healthcare, where they handed him over to medical personnel for treatment.
However, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
According to police, Muthee had sustained a deep cut to his chest. An identification document found on him is believed to have confirmed his identity.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, with police yet to establish the motive or determine how the injuries were inflicted.
Crime Scene Investigation officers visited and processed the scene, documenting evidence as investigations commenced.
The body was subsequently moved to the Nairobi City Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the incident and are expected to establish where and how the young man sustained the fatal injury.

And four people, including two children, were killed and seven others seriously injured after a Toyota Probox lost control and plunged into a ditch along the Kapcherop-Chebororwa road in Elgeyo-Marakwet County.
The accident occurred at about 2.30pm on Saturday at Tenden area, shortly after the vehicle left Tenden Shopping Centre heading towards Chebai Junction.
Police said the vehicle was being driven by 41-year-old driver and was carrying 10 passengers when the driver reportedly lost control while descending a steep section of the road.
The vehicle veered off the road and landed in a ditch on the left side.
Four passengers died in the crash. Seven other occupants, including the driver, sustained serious injuries.
The injured were initially rushed to Kapcherop Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Iten County Referral Hospital for further treatment.
The bodies of the four victims were taken to the AIC Kapsowar Hospital mortuary, where they are being preserved pending post-mortem examinations.
Police were also making arrangements to tow the damaged vehicle to Kapcherop Police Station for inspection as investigations into the fatal accident continue.
