A 70-year-old man was fatally shot by an unknown assailant while returning home after herding camels in Mandera North, Mandera County.
The incident occurred on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at around 8pm.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Billow Mumin, a Degodia male adult, was attacked while heading home.
Police officers from Rhamu and personnel from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene and established that the victim had sustained three gunshot wounds to the lower abdomen, collarbone and right femur.
Six spent cartridges were recovered at the scene as investigations into the killing commenced.
The body was removed and taken to Rhamu Sub-County Hospital, where an autopsy was conducted. It was later handed over to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.=
And police in Kuria West, Migori County, are investigating the death of an unidentified man who died while receiving treatment at a hospital in Kehancha Township.
The man, an African male adult estimated to be about 30 years old, was reportedly brought to Oasis Hospital in an unconscious state on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at around 12:06 p.m.
The man was brought to the hospital by three people who used a Probox vehicle. They reportedly told hospital staff that they had found him at Kehancha Stadium.
The unidentified man was admitted and placed under treatment but died at around midnight.
Police officers from Kehancha Police Station and detectives from DCI Kuria West visited the hospital, where they found the body lying in one of the wards. No visible injuries were observed.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to Kehancha Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Police are working to establish the man’s identity, the circumstances under which he was brought to the hospital and the cause of his death.
