Harambee Stars Vs DRC: Football Enthusiasts Overpower Police, Breach Barriers To Access Stadium


When Kenyans decide to support you, no force can oppose or stand against you.

This was proven on Sunday, August 3, 2025, as many Kenyans, specifically football enthusiasts turned up at the Moi International Sports Center in Kasarani to cheer Harambee Stars as they take on Democratic Republic of Congo.

Thousands of Kenyans endured the Sunday morning cold to show up for their team in a show of solidarity and unity.

The turnout was so huge that Police and Stewards could not manage to control the surging crowd of fans who wanted to get in the stadium for Harambee Stars’ first game in CHAN.

Videos that have circulated online and seen by this writers show countless Kenyans jump over barriers and even tumbling them down as they tried to gain entry into the stadium.

Their zeal was widely lauded on social media with many noting that Kenyans really love and can show up for their own when and if need be.

Thousands who thronged the stadium, including local celebrities donned outfits with national colours and flags.

Some arrived on foot while others checked in squeezed in matatus and bodabodas while chanting and singing supportive songs in support of Harambee Stars.

The large turnout is attributed to the massive PR campaign by the Kenyan government to ensure citizens fill up the stadium to support their team.

Various celebrities had also called on their followings to join them at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani to rally behind Harambee Stars.
