Over his four years at Ole Miss Rebels, he was chosen twice for the First-team All-SEC. In 2008, he was named a unanimous All-American. 

Additionally, he won the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the Southeastern Conference’s best blocker, and played a big role in Ole Miss’s Cotton Bowl Classic win.

Overall, he started 47 of 50 games in college and earned a degree in criminal justice before joining the National Football League Draft.

Professional career

After college, he was selected in the 2009 National Football League (NFL) draft by the Baltimore Ravens. He signed a five-year contract of $13.8 million in July 2009.

In his first game with the Baltimore Ravens against the New England Patriots, he played right tackle and they won, in January 2010.

The football player won the Super Bowl ring in February 2013 as the Baltimore Ravens starting right tackle in their defeat against San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

Afterwards, he signed a four-year contract with the Tennessee Titans for $20 million. During his time with the team, he started 11 games overall. 

Thereafter fulfilling his contract at Tennessee Titans, he signed a two-year contract with Carolina Panthers for $7 million. He played Super Bowl 50, his second Super Bowl as the starting left tackle.

Again, his contract with Carolina Panthers was renewed for another three years for $21.6 million with a guarantee of $9.5 million in June 2016.

He went on to play three games during the 2016 season. The following year in July, he was let go by the Carolina Panthers after a failed physical examination.
