Does TikTok Tell You Who Saved Your Video?

TikTok is a popular platform for sharing short videos, and many creators wonder how much information the app gives them about their audience. One of the most common questions is whether TikTok alerts you when someone saves or downloads your video. No, TikTok does not tell you who saved or downloaded your video. You can see the total number of saves (also called “favorites”) if you have a Pro or Business account, but you don’t get the names or profiles of those users.

What TikTok Actually Shows You

TikTok provides creators with a few types of engagement metrics:

  • Views – how many times your video was watched
  • Likes
  • Comments
  • Shares
  • Saves/Favorites – how many users added the video to their favorites

If you go to the Analytics section (available in Pro or Business accounts), you can see how many times a video has been saved or shared, but TikTok keeps the identities of those users private.

What About Downloads?

If your “Downloads” option is enabled, people can save your videos to their device. Unfortunately, TikTok also doesn’t tell you:

  • Who downloaded your videos
  • How many times a video has been downloaded

So there’s no visibility on downloads — only saves.

Why TikTok Keeps This Private

There are a few reasons TikTok does this:

  • Privacy for users – People may want to save content quietly
  • Smoother user experience – Users feel more comfortable interacting
  • Simplicity – Providing names and details may violate policies or create risks

Should You Be Worried?

If you’re concerned about people saving your content without your permission, here’s what you can do:

  • Disable downloads – Go to your Privacy settings and turn off “Allow Downloads”.
  • Post carefully – Avoid sharing content you don’t want copied or shared.
  • Watermark your content – Add your name or logo so even if someone saves it, you still get credit.

How to See Save Counts

If you want to check how many people saved your video:
