President Ruto celebrates team kenya’s Stellar performance at world athletics championships in Tokyo


President William Samoei Ruto has lauded Kenya’s athletes for their outstanding performance at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, describing their achievements as a powerful statement of national excellence on the global stage.

Speaking during a special breakfast held in honour of the returning champions at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto praised the athletes for carrying the Kenyan flag with pride and bringing immense honour to the country.

“With 7 Gold, 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze medals, Kenya emerged second in the world and first in Africa,” the President noted. “This remarkable achievement is proof that Kenya does not merely participate in the league of nations we compete in the league of champions.”

The President emphasized that the country’s success in Tokyo is a testament to the extraordinary talent, discipline, and determination that define the Kenyan spirit.

“Kenya is not made for average. Our nation’s DNA is not ordinary it is one of excellence, not mediocrity,” he said.

President Ruto reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the sports sector, pledging greater investment in talent development, infrastructure, and systems that uphold integrity and professionalism in athletics.
