Harrison Nyende Mumia, President of the Atheists in Kenya Society was on Monday, January 5, arraigned before the Milimani Law Courts on charges of publishing false information online, contrary to section 22(1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act No 5 of 2018.
According to a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mumia on December 30, 2025, knowingly posted false information about President William Ruto and his leadership, using a pseudo Facebook account with the name Robinson Kipruto Ngetich.
Mumia appeared before the Milimani Law Courts where he faced four counts of false publication.
However, the President of the Atheists in Kenya Society pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted a bond of Sh1 million, with the requirement of one contact person, or an alternative cash bail of Sh500,000, with two contact persons.
The court also ordered Mumia to deposit his passport.

The case will be mentioned again on January 19, 2026.
Nairobi News has learnt that detectives confiscated various items from Mumia’s residence located along Kangundo Road.
Among them were two company stamps belonging to Dovty Digital Technologies and the Atheist in Kenya Society, a Redmi smartphone, an HP Elite book X360 laptop, among other items.
Mumia’s arrest sparked debates online with countless people mocking him for being an Atheist.
Many joked that he should not call on his god to rescue him from the case.
