From nightclubs to HSC: DJ Joe Mfalme bags Presidential award for ‘Just doing what he loves’


Kenyan DJ Joe Mfalme has gone from controlling party crowds to earning recognition from the highest office in the land, and many of us did not see it coming.

The popular mix master, born Munoru Joseph Mwenda, has been on a winning streak for years now, dominating clubs, events and international stages.

His rise has not only put Kenyan deejays on the map but also inspired many young DJs trying to make it in the industry.

Now, his hustle has officially been stamped by the State.

DJ Joe was in December 2025, awarded the Head of State Commendation (HSC), a prestigious honour given to Kenyans who have made a strong impact in their fields.

The award was gazetted on December 11, 2025, under the civilian category, alongside other recipients from different sectors.

The news excited fans and sparked debate online, with many praising the move while others questioned DJs receiving national honours.

Joe, however, being a cool guy, kept it simple.

Taking to social media, the entertainer expressed gratitude and said the recognition came from simply doing what he loves best.

“Life moved fast last year… almost forgot to mention I was awarded the Head of State’s Commendation. Grateful. Just doing what I love. State certified excellence,” he wrote.

His comment section quickly filled with congratulatory messages, with fans and fellow entertainers applauding the achievement and calling it well deserved.
