22-year-old man found dead in house after assault in Sang’alo, Bungoma County


A 22-year-old man was found dead after a suspected murder incident in Sang’alo area, Bungoma County.

Police said Peter Sifuna Wekesa was found dead on the floor of his house with multiple injuries.

This was after some of his family members beat him up following a dispute.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police said they arrested five members of the public for grilling for murder. This was after they were linked to the murder.

And police in Langalanga, Gilgil, Nakuru County, a 73-year-old man was fatally hit in the head in a domestic dispute.

The assailant was a son to the deceased, police said. Police said Moses Kiarie died in hospital after he had been hit by the man in a dispute.

The assailant escaped the scene soon after the incident on January 6. The police said they were on January 7 hunting for the assailant. The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

And a man was lynched in a village in Nyaramba, Nyamira County.

The deceased was accused of burglary before he was stoned to death, police and locals said.

His body was later set on fire. Police arrived at the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects be surrendered to authorities for processing and further action.

Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid calls on parties to seek police services in the same.

Police said they are investigating dozens of such incidents and hope to take action soon.

Pundits argue the trend points to lack of confidence among the public on police.

Authorities have since rolled out programs to address the perception in vain.
