Tears flow as Goliath Wa Bungoma accuses Oga Obinna of trying to crush his dreams

Upcoming entertainer Goliath Wa Bungoma has emotionally opened up about one of the lowest moments of his journey while trying to establish himself in the highly competitive entertainment industry.

Speaking to his fans in an emotional recollection, Goliath took many down memory lane as he narrated the struggles he faced when he first arrived in Nairobi with hopes of making it big.

The content creator revealed that the road to success was far from easy and that at one point he nearly gave up after being discouraged by established comedian and media personality Oga Obinna.

Goliath Wa Bungoma’s emotional revelation has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens sympathising with his struggles and praising his resilience, while others argued that Obinna’s advice may have been practical rather than malicious. Obinna Studios/YouTube

According to Goliath, he once approached Obinna hoping to get guidance and possibly a breakthrough opportunity in the city.

However, the encounter left him deeply discouraged.

Fighting back tears as he narrated the incident, Goliath recalled how Obinna advised him to return to his rural home and rethink his plans before attempting to build a career in Nairobi.

“I never gave up because when I went to Obinna, he hosted me, and then he told me, ‘you’ll have to go back to the village and plan yourself so that you come back to Nairobi,’” he said amidst tears.

The entertainer said the advice hit him hard, especially because he had come to the city with high hopes of finally changing his life.

“I felt really bad when I got out of there; I was stranded, and I met some people who helped me out. I did not go back to the village until I met my friend Patrick, the greatest salesman, and he took me in. Until now I have been his brand ambassador,” he added.

Goliath further disclosed that Obinna had expressed doubts about his potential to succeed in Nairobi’s tough entertainment scene.

According to him, the comedian suggested that he lacked a marketable brand or talent that could easily be monetised at the time.

Obinna reportedly told him:

“I might be wrong but I stand to be corrected. What I recommend is you go back to the village, rethink the whole thing, and then come back because in the meantime you’ll stay at someone’s place and then they’ll question what you are doing. You are popular and there is no money. There is nothing as bad as being popular without money. At the moment you don’t have a marketable brand or talent that we can capitalise on or leverage.”

Despite the painful experience, Goliath said he refused to allow the discouragement to define his future.

Instead, he used the moment as motivation to push harder and prove that he could build something for himself in the city.

His emotional revelation has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some netizens sympathising with his struggles and praising his resilience, while others argued that Obinna’s advice may have been practical rather than malicious.

For many aspiring entertainers, Goliath’s story reflects the harsh reality of trying to break into Nairobi’s crowded entertainment industry, where talent alone is often not enough and persistence becomes the key to survival.
