Gospel entertainer DJ Krowbar has attracted mixed reactions online after launching a scathing attack on comedian Oga Obinna, sparking a heated debate among Kenyans on social media.
The controversy began shortly after the success of the much-talked-about Vurugu Boxing bout, an event organized by Obinna that drew massive attention and showcased a unique blend of entertainment and sports.
While many praised the initiative as a creative and unifying spectacle, Krowbar appeared unimpressed, choosing instead to question Obinna’s political leanings.

In a strongly worded Facebook post, Krowbar took a direct jab at the comedian, accusing him of being aligned with President William Ruto.
The post quickly went viral, drawing both support and backlash from netizens.
“Obinna is a Ruto puppet! I said what I said.”
Krowbar’s remarks ignited a storm online, with some users rallying behind him and echoing his sentiments.
Supporters argued that public figures should be held accountable for their political affiliations, especially when they appear to use their platforms to influence public opinion.
A section of Kenyans agreed with Krowbar, suggesting that entertainers often have hidden political ties that deserve scrutiny:
“Krowbar is just saying what many are afraid to say. These celebs pretend to be neutral but are deeply compromised,” one user commented.
“If Obinna is clean, why is he being linked to politicians all the time? There must be some truth there,” another added.
However, a larger number of Kenyans took issue with Krowbar’s approach, criticizing him for dragging politics into entertainment and attacking individuals based on perceived affiliations.
Many defended Obinna, pointing out his efforts in creating opportunities through initiatives like the Vurugu Boxing event.
“Why can’t people just celebrate Obinna’s win? Not everything has to be political,” one netizen wrote.
“Krowbar is out of line. You can’t just label someone a puppet without proof,” another user added.
As the debate intensified, some social media users went a step further and unearthed Krowbar’s old posts, in which he reportedly sought assistance from the same President he is now criticizing.
Screenshots circulating online appeared to show the DJ appealing to Ruto for support in the past, a revelation that fueled accusations of hypocrisy.
“So Krowbar was begging Ruto for help the other day and now he’s calling people puppets? Make it make sense,” one comment read.
“Kenyans never forget. The internet is undefeated!” another user quipped.
Others called for consistency and maturity among public figures, urging celebrities to be mindful of their statements, especially on sensitive political matters.
“This is why people don’t take celebrities seriously when it comes to politics. Today you’re praising, tomorrow you’re insulting,” a user observed.
Despite the backlash, Krowbar has not publicly retracted his statement, and the post continues to generate engagement across social media platforms.
On the other hand, Obinna has remained relatively silent on the matter, choosing not to escalate the situation further.

The incident highlights the growing intersection between entertainment and politics in Kenya, where public figures often find themselves under scrutiny for their perceived allegiances.
It also underscores the power of social media in shaping narratives, with netizens playing an active role in holding celebrities accountable, sometimes digging into their past to challenge their present.
As the dust settles, one thing remains clear: in Kenya’s vibrant online space, no statement goes unnoticed, and every opinion, especially from influential personalities, can quickly turn into a national conversation.
