Shock As Pastor Dorcas Rigathi Flees After Njenga Storms Her Meeting

Maina Njenga, the former leader of the Mungiki sect, caused a major disruption at a prayer meeting in Kamukunji Grounds, Nyeri County, on Saturday.

The event, led by Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, wife of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, was abruptly interrupted when Njenga arrived at the venue with a convoy of youths.

The commotion forced Pastor Dorcas and other leaders, including Nyeri Deputy Governor David Waroe, to leave the venue through the back exit.

As the meeting paused in the wake of the disturbance, Njenga walked up to the seat that Pastor Dorcas had been occupying and sat there.

The scene created further tension, particularly with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who was expected at the event but did not attend.

Pastor Dorcas had earlier shared an invitation on her Facebook page, encouraging Kenyans to join in the prayer meeting with a focus on unity and faith.

However, the disruption raised questions about Njenga’s intentions, especially as his presence at the meeting came just days after he had voiced his support for President William Ruto’s administration at a New Year’s Eve prayer gathering in Nyeri.

During the meeting, Njenga, who has had a rocky relationship with Gachagua since 2023, took the opportunity to address the gathering, urging Mt. Kenya residents to stop focusing solely on their region.

“Let us not be people who speak about Mt Kenya all the time. There are other parts of the country.

We need to go to other areas for prayers,” he said, emphasizing the need for national unity and inclusion.

Njenga also called for leaders to foster a spirit of nationalism to propel Kenya forward.

Despite his controversial remarks about Gachagua’s leadership, Njenga has consistently expressed support for the government and has been critical of Gachagua’s handling of vital issues in the Mt. Kenya region, particularly in sectors such as coffee and tea.

Following the disruption, former Deputy President Gachagua condemned Njenga’s actions, suggesting that his presence at the meeting was meant to cause unnecessary tension.

The incident highlights the ongoing rift between Njenga and Gachagua, as well as the broader political dynamics in the Mt. Kenya region.
