Caretaker Found Dead at Poultry Farm in Rabai, Kilifi


A caretaker was found dead at a poultry farm in Rabai Sub-County, Kilifi County, in what police have described as a sudden death with no immediate signs of foul play.

According to the police, the incident was reported on April 19, 2026, at around 10:56 a.m.

The deceased, identified as Saha Mkoma Tsama, was a caretaker at a poultry farm. Police officers visited the scene and found the body lying lifeless on a mattress.

Preliminary findings indicate that neighbours grew concerned after noticing unusual silence at the premises. Upon checking, they found the caretaker unresponsive, with no visible physical injuries.

Police stated that there were no immediate indications of foul play.

The body was released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Authorities advised the family to obtain a burial permit from the area assistant chief before proceeding with funeral arrangements.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man died after falling into a mining shaft in Nyatike Sub-County, Migori County.

According to police, the incident was reported on April 19, 2026, evening.

Police officers who visited the scene at Kalangi Sub-location in Mikei Location, approximately 4 kilometres east of the station, found the lifeless body of the victim identified as Joseph Anan Guda lying outside the shaft with multiple injuries and bruises.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had accompanied six other individuals to inspect a water pump inside the mining shaft when he reportedly slipped and fell, sustaining fatal injuries.

The scene was processed by investigators, and the body was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem examination.

Authorities have launched investigations into the incident.
