An altercation in Lake Victoria left a fisherman dead after a fight with fellow fishermen in Mukuyu beach, Homa Bay County. The fisherman and others were fishing on Lake Victoria when an altercation broke out.
It is not clear what caused the altercation that led to the fatal assault on Fredrick Oduol, 37, police said.
The altercation started in the deep waters on April 27. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed two days later. Police visited the scene as part of a probe into the murder incident before moving the body to the mortuary for autopsy.
Meanwhile, a 63-year-old man was found dead after a domestic fight in Malalani location, Makuka sub location, Kitui County.
Police officers visited the scene and found a body identified to be of Kilonzi Musee, 63 on the floor inside his house. He had a serious injury on the fore head which he sustained while fighting with his wife.
Police said the wife hit him hard with a wooden stick.
The scene was processed and the body was taken to Mutitu sub county hospital mortuary. The suspect was taken to Zombe police station for interrogation, according to police.
Elsewhere, a cobbler was found dead after a drowning incident in Nguka, Kirinyaga County.
Police said the victim was last seen on April 27 at the canal bank fetching water for tyre repair. It is believed that he was swept away by the swollen waters.
The body had physical injury on the left side of the head and uniformed broken left skull scaling at the back of the head. Detectives said they were investigating the incident.
Cases of drowning have been on the rise amid calls for caution to address them. Police say the incidents are linked to floods due to heavy rains being experienced.
