Police in Makindu are investigating a suspected murder after the body of an unidentified man was discovered dumped along a rough road in Kwaselu village, Kiboko location.
According to the police, members of the public alerted authorities after spotting the body within Mulili sub-location on May 21.
Police officers who visited the scene found the body of a man believed to be about 30 years old lying by the roadside with visible head injuries and a broken left leg.
Investigators noted that no residents from the area were able to identify the deceased, raising suspicion that he may have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the location.
Crime scene investigators processed and photographed the scene before the body was moved to Makindu Sub-County Hospital mortuary pending identification and postmortem examination.
Elsewhere, police in Baringo are investigating the suspected murder of a middle-aged man whose body was found lying by the roadside in Kemilanon village.
A member of the public alerted authorities after discovering the body with blood oozing from the nose.
Officers who visited the scene confirmed the deceased was Peter Yator after he was identified by the area chief.
Police said the deceased had no shoes on and the lamp he was reportedly last seen carrying was missing, circumstances that have raised suspicion of foul play.
The body was still at the scene awaiting processing by Scenes of Crime officers by the time of the report.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
And police in Iten are investigating the death of a Form Two student from St Mary’s Kitany Boys High School following allegations that he had been beaten by his father before returning to school.
According to the police, the school principal informed police that the student had resumed studies on May 20 at around 1:30 pm in the company of his father.
The father reportedly told school authorities that he had disciplined the boy by beating him after the student allegedly resisted returning to school following a medical leave granted on May 15.
Police said the student did not complain upon reporting back to school.
However, on the morning of May 21 at about 5 am, the student reportedly complained of feeling unwell and was rushed to Kaptarakwa Sub-County Hospital before being referred to Iten County Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations visited the mortuary and confirmed the death. The body was preserved at the facility awaiting a postmortem examination.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing.
