Man electrocuted while reconnecting Wi-Fi cable in Embakasi

A man died after being electrocuted while attempting to reconnect a Wi-Fi cable at his home in Embakasi, Nairobi, police have reported.

The deceased, identified as Victor Ochieng Owuor, was preparing for work on the morning of June 1 when the incident occurred. According to his wife, she heard him scream repeatedly from the kitchen and rushed to check on him, only to find him lying on the floor in severe pain.

Police officers from Villa Police Station visited the scene alongside officials from the Kenya Power safety and health department.

Preliminary investigations established that Owuor was using an uninsulated knife to reconnect a Wi-Fi cable inside the house when he was accidentally electrocuted.

Investigators found burn injuries on his right hand and right leg.

A subsequent examination revealed that the Wi-Fi cable crossed over a high-voltage power line.

Authorities suspect the cable may have come into contact with the electricity line, allowing a dangerous electric current to pass through it.

The victim was rushed to Marina Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
