Man dies after suspected electrocution at home in Runda’s Githogoro slums, Nairobi

A man died after a suspected electrocution incident at his home in Runda, Nairobi, on Thursday afternoon.

According to the police, the victim, identified as George Kivasa, was leaving his house at around 3:30 p.m. when he came into contact with a clothesline that was hanging loosely across the doorway in Gothogoro slums.

Police said Kivasa collapsed immediately after touching the line, prompting his wife to rush to his aid while calling for help from neighbours.

Residents responded and assisted in taking him to a nearby clinic for emergency medical attention. Due to the seriousness of his condition, doctors referred him to Kiambu Level 4 Hospital for specialized treatment.

However, Kivasa was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Police have launched investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including how the clothesline may have become electrified.

The body was preserved pending further investigations and post-mortem examination. Authorities have urged members of the public to exercise caution around electrical installations and report any suspected electrical hazards to prevent similar tragedies.
