Detectives launched a manhunt for a suspect accused of fatally stabbing a 35-year-old man inside his house in Mwatate Sub-county, Taita Taveta County.
The deceased was identified as Silas Manjala Mwakazi, whose body was discovered inside his home at Mwachambo Village on Wednesday.
Police officers responded to the scene and found Mwakazi lying dead inside his house with a visible stab wound on the right side of his abdomen.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased was allegedly stabbed by a suspect who fled after the incident and remains at large.
Police said the suspected murder weapon was not recovered.
The body was moved to St. Joseph Ikanga Hospital Mortuary in Voi, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said efforts to trace and arrest the suspect are ongoing as investigations into the killing continue.
And a post-mortem examination has ruled out murder in the death of a livestock broker who was initially believed to have been the victim of a fatal attack in Laikipia County.
The examination was conducted on Wednesday in the presence of the deceased’s relatives and police officers on the body of Moses Lodekek, a livestock broker and resident of Mlima Meza.
Lodekek was found on June 13 lying in a pool of blood along the Sipili–Ol Moran Road with a deep cut at the back of his head, a cut on his left palm and blood oozing from his mouth, prompting police to open investigations into a suspected murder.
However, the pathologist’s findings ruled out homicide as the cause of death.
Following the findings, police have transferred the case from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to the Ngarua Traffic Base for further investigations, indicating the death is now being treated as a possible road traffic incident rather than a murder.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances that led to Lodekek’s death.
