UDA Members And CS Aden Duale Call For Justin Muturi’s Resignation Over Criticism Of Government

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party leaders, alongside Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, have called for the resignation of Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi following his recent criticisms of the government over rising cases of abductions.

During a tour of the North Eastern region over the weekend, Duale openly criticized Muturi for his comments regarding the government’s handling of abductions, urging him to step down.

Duale described Muturi’s ongoing criticism as inappropriate and harmful to the government’s unity.

“If you are a Cabinet Secretary and unhappy with your position, the best thing to do is resign,” Duale stated, emphasizing the need for respect among government officials.

“Engaging in such unhealthy and inappropriate disagreements with your appointing authority, the President, is not fair,” he added.

Senate Majority Leader Aaron Cheruiyot, speaking in Mandera, also weighed in on the matter, accusing Muturi of making tribal remarks in his critiques of the government.

Cheruiyot stressed that the Kenyan people wanted a government that served all citizens equally, and such divisive comments would only harm the country’s unity.

“Leaders who are engaging in such rhetoric will ultimately be defeated. The people of Kenya are knowledgeable and seek fairness and equality from their government,” Cheruiyot declared.

In Embu, Muturi’s own home county, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah joined the criticism.

Ichung’wah urged the former Attorney General to cease his persistent attacks on the government, asking him to “give Kenyans a break.”

“For those who continuously lecture the President, Deputy President, and other leaders, please stop. It’s time to let us move forward,” Ichung’wah remarked.

Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek also chimed in, reminding everyone that the problem of abductions began when Muturi was Speaker of the National Assembly.

He claimed that Muturi did little to address the issue during his tenure.

Muturi’s comments have drawn attention as he has emerged as the sole Cabinet member to openly criticize the government over the rising cases of abductions and forced disappearances.

His remarks followed the discovery of two of the Kitengela Four brothers’ bodies, further fueling concerns about the ongoing crisis.

These calls for Muturi’s resignation come amid growing tensions over the government’s handling of abductions, with UDA members and other leaders calling for unity and a focus on resolving the issue.
