Police in Baringo North are investigating two separate deaths after the discovery of a decomposed male body and a foetus in different locations within the sub-county.
According to police, officers revisited an earlier report made on July 16, 2026, after a local reported the discovery of a heavily decomposed male body at Bossei Village in Kelyo Location.
The body had decomposed extensively, with the skull found detached from the rest of the remains.
In a separate incident, officials reported the discovery of a foetus in the bed of a seasonal river at Sumeiyon. The foetus had reportedly been found by village elders on July 17.
A police team led by the Baringo North Sub-County Police Commander, accompanied by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), visited both scenes.
The scenes were photographed and processed before the remains were removed to Baringo Referral Hospital mortuary.
Police said the male body is yet to be identified, while post-mortem examinations on both bodies are expected to establish the causes of death.
Investigations into the suspected murder and suspected infanticide are ongoing, with police expected to issue a follow-up report.
Detectives said they are investigating murder in the cases.
Murder incidents have been on the rise amid efforts to address the menace. Up to eight cases are reported daily. Police say most of the incidents remain unsolved for now.
