Three suspects were arrested following the murder of a 40-year-old man whose body was discovered with multiple injuries in Mwala Sub-County, Machakos County.
According to police, the incident was reported at Mwala Police Station on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Police officers from Mwala, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and the area chief visited the scene and found the body of James Loki Musyoka lying lifeless.
The deceased had visible injuries to the mouth, head, back and right leg, with blood oozing from the wounds. Investigators also found a piece of rope tied around his right hand.
Police said the deceased had a history of mental illness and was last seen alive at around 8:00 a.m. the same day at his uncle’s home in Kandumbu, where they had breakfast together.
Following preliminary investigations, police arrested three suspects.
Investigators also recovered a suspected murder weapon about 100 metres from the scene. Crime scene officers processed and documented the area before the body was moved to Machakos Funeral Home mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigations into the motive behind the killing continue.
And an unknown man believed to be about 50 years old was found dead floating in River Izava in Sabatia Sub-County, Vihiga County.
According to police, the incident was reported at Kilingili Police Station on Monday, July 20, 2026, at about 6:07 p.m., after residents spotted a body floating in the river at Mangunyuli Village in Izava South Location.
Police officers visited the scene and recovered the body.
Preliminary examination established that the deceased had no visible physical injuries, apart from skin peeling, which is consistent with prolonged immersion in water.
The scene was processed and documented before the body was moved to the Vihiga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary, where it will be preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
Police have launched investigations into the incident and are working to identify the deceased.
