A five-year-old boy died after becoming trapped in a window at police residential quarters in Siakago, Mbeere North Sub-county, Embu County.
According to police, the incident was reported on Friday evening after a child was seen hanging outside the living room window of a house, which is occupied by a police officer.
Police officers who rushed to the scene found the boy suspended outside the second-floor window after the hood of his sweatshirt became caught on a window hook.
The officers observed saliva coming from the child’s mouth, indicating he was in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations established that Ryan had been inside the house playing with his two siblings at the time of the incident while their mother was away on official duty.
The child was rushed to Queens and Kings Hospital in Siakago, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a medical officer.
His body was later transferred to Embu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police have launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Meanwhile, a three-year-old boy died after drowning in a swimming pool at Mvita Primary School in Majengo, Mombasa County, on Friday evening.
According to police , the incident was reported at about 6:40 p.m. by a man who identified the deceased as her nephew, Asmar Abdinasir.
She told police that the child had been swimming with other children in the school’s swimming pool when he drowned.
An alarm was raised, prompting those at the scene to retrieve the boy from the water before rushing him to MEWA Hospital for treatment. However, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police officers from Makupa Police Station, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel visited both the hospital mortuary and the scene of the incident.
Investigators established that the child’s body had no visible external injuries, findings consistent with a suspected drowning.
The body was later transferred to Pandya Hospital Mortuary, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning are ongoing.
