An 18-year-old secondary school student was found dead in a sugarcane farm in Etago, Kisii County, in an incident police are treating as murder.
The body of Benedicta Omen’ge, a Form Three student at Suguta Girls Secondary School in Nyamache, was discovered on Friday morning, September 4, 2026, in Nyabiosi village, Nyabiosi Sub-Location.
Omen’ge’s body was found lying face down inside a sugarcane farm belonging to a local resident.
The body was discovered by a herdsman who was tethering cows in fields near the farm.
Police officers visited the scene after the incident was reported by Nyabiosi Assistant Chief Evans Chore.
Investigators observed a visible injury to the back of the teenager’s head, specifically around the occipital region, which was suspected to have been inflicted with a blunt object.
Police said Omen’ge was last seen at her home at about 8pm on Thursday while in good health.
The motive for the killing had not been established by the time of the report.
Detectives processed and documented the scene as investigations continued. The body was later moved to Tabaka Mission Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and seeking to establish who was responsible for the killing.
And a 34-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Mwea, Embu County, after an alleged domestic dispute involving her husband.
The incident was reported at Karaba Police Station on Friday, September 4, 2026, at about 7:15am after the woman’s eight-year-old son reportedly informed his grandmother that his parents were fighting.
Police officers visited the scene and found the lifeless body of Esther Syombua, a Kamba woman aged 34, lying on the bedroom floor in a pool of blood.
Syombua had suffered multiple deep cuts to her head and both hands.
Investigators also noted signs of a struggle inside the house, raising suspicion that the woman had been attacked during the domestic confrontation.
Police said her husband, was suspected of committing the attack before fleeing the scene.
Officers processed the scene for evidence and removed the body to Karira Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Detectives have launched investigations as they seek to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and trace her husband.
Meanwhile police in Kesses, Uasin Gishu County, have launched investigations after the body of a 68-year-old man was found in a water tunnel at Chepkoiya Market.
The body of Chorís Chege Theka was discovered on Friday morning, September 4, 2026.
Police officers visited the scene and found the body of a man lying in a water tunnel, with his head inside a culvert.
A search of the body recovered an identification card bearing the name Chorís Chege Theka, confirming his identity.
Police said the body had visible bruises around the mouth, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Residents who spoke to investigators identified Theka as a mobile shoemaker who operated within the Chepkoiya area. They also said he lived alone in a house within the market.
The circumstances that led to his death remained unclear as investigators commenced inquiries.
The body was removed from the scene and taken to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary in Eldoret, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police and DCI detectives are expected to question residents and other people who may have interacted with Theka before his death as investigations continue.
And a 56-year-old man died after he was found unconscious in a neighbour’s house in Buroboi A village, Busende sub-location, Busia County.
Stephen Ouma Wabindonge Luhya was found unconscious in the sitting room of a neighbour’s house on the morning of Friday, September 4, 2026.
Ouma had visited the home of a woman while appearing drunk and requested a glass of water before leaving.
He returned to the house at about 2am while still appearing intoxicated and again asked for water. He was allowed to sleep in the sitting room.
The following morning, the homeowner woke up and found Ouma unconscious. She raised the alarm, prompting neighbours to respond and administer first aid.
However, he later died.
Police officers visited the house and documented the scene.
His body was moved to Francis Funeral Home, where it was being preserved pending a postmortem examination to establish the cause of death.
Police have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.
