Anthony Mundane sporting journey began in the rugby league, where he quickly rose through the ranks. In 1994, he played for the Junior Kangaroos in the Under-19. He helped the team defeat Great Britain.
By 1996, he was playing for St George Dragons rugby league football club. For the team, he played in the NRL Grand Final against Manly Warringah Sea Eagles.
