Kenyan music couple Kendi Kiremi and Timmy Tdat have ended their relationship, barely weeks after celebrating the arrival of their first child together.
Kendi made the announcement on Friday, August 28, 2026, bringing an unexpected turn to a relationship that had recently entered a new chapter with parenthood.
The singer explained that she had deliberately kept her private life away from public scrutiny but felt compelled to address their separation because their relationship had increasingly become a subject of public interest.

“After much consideration, I’ve chosen to part ways with Timmy Tdat,” Kendi said in her statement.
She further clarified that the separation extends beyond their romantic relationship, saying she is no longer Timmy’s wife, girlfriend or business partner.
Kendi, however, did not reveal what led to the decision and did not level any accusations against the rapper.
Her statement instead appeared focused on making their new relationship status clear while maintaining some privacy around the circumstances behind their breakup.
Breakup comes shortly after birth of their son
The development is particularly striking because the two musicians welcomed their first child only weeks ago.
On July 18, Kendi announced the birth of their baby boy in an emotional social media post, describing the moment she finally held her son as life-changing.
The singer’s journey into motherhood had been preceded by painful experiences, as she revealed that she had suffered several miscarriages before successfully carrying her pregnancy to term.
Reflecting on the birth, Kendi said she had previously walked out of hospital several times without a baby, making the arrival of her son an especially significant moment for her.
She also revealed that her song “Sita Leave”, which features Timmy Tdat, was written during a difficult period when the couple were healing from a previous miscarriage.
The song consequently took on a deeper meaning following the birth of their child.
The couple’s son has therefore arrived at the centre of a major transition in their lives, with Kendi now confirming that while their romantic relationship has ended, they remain connected through their child.
“Other than our wonderful son, we have absolutely nothing else together,” Kendi stated.
From private romance to public pregnancy announcement
For much of their relationship, Kendi and Timmy kept details of their romance away from the limelight despite both being established figures in Kenya’s music scene.
That changed dramatically in 2026 when they publicly announced that they were expecting their first child.
The announcement was accompanied by an elaborate maternity photoshoot in which Kendi wore a red “Mother to Be” sash while Timmy appeared in a suit.
One of the memorable images showed the rapper kissing Kendi’s baby bump.
The announcement effectively confirmed months of speculation about their relationship and was met with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow entertainers.
Kendi had also spoken openly about the physical and emotional realities of pregnancy, including the difficulties she experienced during her third trimester.
At the time, she described the pregnancy as a major blessing and expressed excitement about meeting her “little bundle of joy”.

Music brought the two artistes together
Beyond their personal relationship, Kendi and Timmy Tdat also shared a musical connection.
The two collaborated on several projects, with Kendi featuring alongside Timmy on “Sita Leave”.
The song became particularly meaningful because of the difficult circumstances surrounding its creation.
Timmy has also featured Kendi on his musical projects, with the pair demonstrating that their relationship extended into their creative careers.
The collaboration between the two was not entirely surprising given their individual careers in Kenya’s entertainment industry.
Timmy Tdat, whose real name is Timothy Owuor, has built a reputation as a rapper and entertainer known for songs including “Welle Welle”, “Dus Nyau” and “Inaweza”.
He has also continued releasing music and working with different artistes over the years.
Kendi, meanwhile, has established herself as a singer with songs including “Confirm”, “Pinky Swear” and “Destiny”, while also growing her profile through her personal music releases.
Their professional association means the end of their romance could potentially mark a new phase in how they approach their creative collaborations.
Fans had only recently celebrated their new family
The couple’s separation is likely to surprise fans who had followed their journey from pregnancy to parenthood within a relatively short period.
Their pregnancy announcement came in June, while the birth of their son followed in July.
The speed at which the relationship moved from publicly celebrating a pregnancy to announcing a breakup has consequently generated interest among entertainment followers.
However, Kendi has not provided details about when the relationship began experiencing difficulties, nor has she explained whether the separation happened before or after the birth of their son.
As of the time of her announcement, Timmy Tdat had not publicly issued a detailed response addressing the reasons behind their separation.
Their son remains their biggest connection
Although their romantic partnership has ended, Kendi’s statement makes it clear that their responsibilities as parents will continue to link them.
The arrival of their son was an important milestone for both artistes, particularly given Kendi’s disclosure about her previous pregnancy losses.
For now, the former couple appears to be entering separate personal chapters while navigating co-parenthood away from the details of their private disagreements.
Kendi’s decision not to disclose the reasons behind the breakup also leaves much of the story outside the public domain, with the singer choosing to confirm the separation without turning it into a public dispute.
The development marks a dramatic change from only a few months ago, when the two were publicly celebrating pregnancy, creating music together and preparing to welcome their first child.
Their relationship may have come to an end, but their shared journey into parenthood means Kendi and Timmy Tdat will remain connected through the son they welcomed together.
