Gor Mahia midfielder Austin Odhiambo has expressed renewed optimism in the club’s title campaign following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Mara Sugar on Sunday at Dandora Stadium.
The reigning champions had hit a rough patch in recent weeks, drawing 1-1 with Sofapaka and suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to FC Talanta.
Those results saw them drop crucial points and lose ground in the tightly contested FKF Premier League title race, where they currently sit third behind Tusker and Kenya Police.
However, the dominant performance against Mara Sugar has given the team a much-needed boost in confidence as they look to reclaim momentum in their pursuit of a record 22nd league title.

“Right now, the team is full of morale,” said Odhiambo. “We had gone three games without a win, so getting that victory at the weekend lifted us.
It came at the right time, and we finally got the result we were looking for a big win.”
Odhiambo believes the win has not only revitalized their title charge but also provided a solid foundation for their FKF Cup ambitions.
Gor Mahia recently advanced to the semi-finals of the domestic cup after a 2-0 victory over Kariobangi Sharks, further strengthening their position on both fronts.
The club, under the leadership of coach Sinisa Mihajlovic, now turns its focus to maintaining consistency in the remaining fixtures of the season as the title race intensifies.
