Basic Education PS Julius Bitok Demands Arrest Of Alliance Girls Teacher Accused Of Student Grooming

Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Julius Bitok has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of a teacher at Alliance Girls High School accused of grooming and engaging in inappropriate sexual relationships with students.

Speaking strongly against the alleged misconduct, Bitok reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy on any romantic or sexual relations between teachers and students.

PS Bitok made the remarks during a Thanksgiving ceremony held at Kapkoros Barngetuny Secondary School in Nandi County.

“We are not going to condone any behavior where teachers or any other stakeholders in school take advantage of our children,” he said.

“We want to condemn, in the strongest terms possible, any actions by teachers or any staff within the school community who seek to exploit students sexually.”

The PS confirmed that his ministry has already engaged the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and other relevant authorities to ensure that the teacher in question is arrested and prosecuted.

He emphasized that this case must serve as a warning to other educators across the country.

“We as government are saying we are not going to tolerate any behavior of that kind.

That teacher is going to be punished and prosecuted. We have spoken to TSC and all stakeholders to ensure action is taken,” he said.

The PS further stressed that the issue is not limited to Alliance Girls School alone, warning that any teacher found engaging in such behavior in any school across the country will face the full force of the law.

“It’s not only Alliance Girls. Any other school in this country this behavior must stop,” he stated.

This incident has reignited national concerns over the safety and protection of students within the education system.

Advocacy groups and parents have called for stringent background checks, stronger reporting mechanisms, and better safeguards in schools to protect students from predatory behavior.

As investigations continue, education officials and law enforcement are expected to act swiftly, in line with the government’s declared commitment to student safety and child protection.
