Boda Boda Association Of Kenya Denies Claims Youths Did Not Receive Motorcycle At State House

The Boda Boda Association of Kenya has watered down claims that youths who went to State House for President William Ruto’s recent youth empowerment forum in Nairobi were duped by the Kenya Kwanza government and did not receive motorcycles as earlier promised.

The association in an official statement issued on Monday, August 8 2025, the association’s President, Kelvin Mmbadi, stated that the allegations doing rounds on social media are pure lies and rubbished them as misleading and politically driven.

According to Mmbadi the boda boda riders’ groups had deliberated and agreed on individuals who would be given the motorcycles before going to State House.

Through the statement, Mmbadi reiterated that those who went to the State House and whose names were submitted were duly given the motorcycles.

“On that day, fewer than two hundred motorcycles were there, and those who went to the statehouse were over 6000, and there is no way everyone was to be given a motorcycle,” Mmbadi said.

“Before they went there, the riders had agreed on who would be given the motorcycles. I want to assure you that boda boda riders who went to the statehouse were given the motorcycles because their names had already been submitted,” Mmbadi added.

The youth empowerment event, which was held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, came under scrutiny after some individuals claimed that they did not receive the motorcycles that they were pictured with at State House.

The individuals, through different social media platforms and interviews alleged that some motorcycles distributed during the event were never delivered to the intended beneficiaries.

The allegations were dismissed by the Head of Presidential Special Projects and Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi who insisted the motorcycle were handed to youth groups and not individuals.

“Only the group chairmen were allowed to collect the items. That was the official process. Deceit and lies. Nairobi Empowerment season two will follow,” Itumbi added.
