Boy, 3 killed in fire incident in Ruringu, Nyeri County


A three year old boy was killed in a fire incident in a village in Ruringu area, Nyeri County.

Police said the incident happened on Thursday in Kiamwathi location.

Police officers from Ruringu police station and DCI team, NGAO and Red cross officials visited the scene and established that the fire started on the house of one tenant who sustained some minor injuries.

As a result of the fire, a three-year-old child namely succumbed to injuries and was burnt beyond recognition, police said.

Another tenant was seriously injured in the incident.

Both adults were rushed to Nyeri PGH hospital for treatment while the deceased child body was taken to PGH mortuary awaiting for postmortem.

The house which was made of wood and iron sheet was totally destroyed in the fire incident, police said.

The building was comprised of 25 rooms and cause of the fire is yet to be known, police said.

Meanwhile, police in Kaptama, Bungoma County, a body of a man was found in a maize plantation after murder.

He was later identified as Titus Kwemoi, 58. Police said blood was oozing from his mouth when the body was discovered.

The motive of the murder was not known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
