Couple in hospital after near death domestic fight in Migori Town


A couple was rescued and rushed to hospital in Migori Town after a near fatal domestic fight.

The husband tried to kill the wife by cutting her throat before he also attempted the same.

They both sustained serious neck injuries, police said.

The two had been staying in a rental house in the area before they started to quarrel and fight on Saturday night, police and witnesses said.

It was then that the woman ran out of the house to that of her sister who lives near there with the husband in hot pursuit.

Police said the husband locked the door of the house and stabbed the wife multiple times in the thighs and cut her three fingers.

He then tried to cut her throat. By then, a mob was outside trying to break in to rescue the woman. The man turned the knife on himself and tried to cut his throat in vain in an attempted suicide.

It was then that they were both rescued and rushed to hospital in a serious condition, police said.

The police said they are waiting for the two to recover before they take further action.

Such incidents have been on the rise amid calls on parties to solve their differences amicably.

In Shauri Moyo area, Nairobi, a man was fatally hit in the head in an argument with another one.

The deceased succumbed to the injuries in hospital on Saturday morning, police said.

The two had argued on the roadside, witnesses said adding the assailant used a club in the attack.

The assailant escaped the scene and efforts to trace him are ongoing, police said adding the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Watamu, Kilifi County, a cleaner recovered an Olympic.38 pistol in a house that belonged to an Italian national who had died in a road accident.

The deceased was a tenant at the house before he died in the accident on the Malindi-Kilifi highway, police said.

His girlfriend moved out of the house soon after the fatal accident on October 17, 2025, police added.

It was then the landlord sanctioned a cleaner to clean the house when the weapon was found near a water tank behind the main house, police said.

Police said they are investigating the discovery. The weapon was taken for ballistic tests and other investigations.
