The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has intensified its crackdown on phone snatchers and suspected receivers of stolen mobile phones in Nairobi as detectives move to dismantle organised criminal networks operating across the capital.
The ongoing operation targeting individuals involved in stealing and handling stolen phones is reportedly yielding results, with the DCI stepping up efforts to disrupt the criminal networks behind the trade.
Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Officer (RCIO) Setim Kandie said the DCI remained committed to enhancing security across the city and bringing those involved in criminal activities to justice.
“The DCI Nairobi Region Command remains at the forefront in the fight against various forms of crime, in an effort to make Nairobi secure for all,” Kandie said.
Speaking to the media in Nairobi, Kandie urged residents to work closely with investigators by providing information on suspected criminal activities.
He said the DCI maintains an open-door policy and is ready to receive security concerns from members of the public to facilitate timely intervention.
“We encourage members of the public to continue sharing information on criminal activities and other security issues to facilitate timely and appropriate police action,” he said.
The DCI has also called on residents to remain vigilant and report emergencies through the National Police Service emergency lines.
The agency said information from the public remains critical in identifying suspects, disrupting criminal operations and ensuring that those involved in phone theft and the illegal handling of stolen property face the law.
