Decomposed body found on roadside in Koru, Kisumu County


Detectives are investigating the murder of a man whose decomposed body was found on the roadside in Koru area, Kisumu County.

The decomposed body was found in a thicket off the road by pedestrians on Saturday, police said.

According to the police, the body had multiple cuts on the head, hand and shoulders.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures including identification.

Police said they were investigating murder and that they had not established the motive of the same.

In Kakuyuni, Machakos County, one John Mbaluka, 72 collapsed and died at his house.

Police said the deceased had been to his farm in the area for usual chores and came back home when he collapsed on February 28. The cause of the death was not immediately known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Kakamega’s Bukura village, one Philip Abongo, 32 died after being hit by a lightning.

The deceased was sheltering in a house with others as it rained when the lightning struck on February 28, 2026 evening.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures. Such incidents are common in the area amid efforts to solve them.

Locals have been appealing to authorities to help them install harvesters to help containing the strikes.

Elsewhere, at least 11 people were Saturday killed in separate road accidents in the country.

Police said the victims included three riders, six pedestrians and two passengers. At least 23 people were left with serious injuries and they included 12 pedestrians, five riders, four pillion passengers and two drivers.

Fatal accidents have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend. Police say most of the victims are pedestrians.

The accidents have left many families with burdens of taking care of bills.

Many other families have lost those they depended on in many ways as breadwinners hence have a negative impact on the society at large.
