Does TikTok Notify You When You View Someone’s Profile?

TikTok users often wonder about the platform’s privacy features, especially when it comes to profile views. The answer isn’t entirely straightforward, as it depends on specific settings and conditions.

TikTok’s Profile View History Feature

TikTok has a feature called “Profile View History,” which allows users to see who has visited their profile within the last 30 days. However, this feature is not automatic and must be turned on manually.

To use this feature, users must be at least 16 years old and have fewer than 5,000 followers. More importantly, both the viewer and the person whose profile is being viewed must have this feature enabled. If only one of them has it turned on, then profile views will remain private.

When both users have the feature active, viewing someone’s profile will notify them that you’ve visited. If either user has it turned off, then no notification will be sent.

Default Privacy Settings

By default, TikTok does not notify users when someone views their profile. This means unless both parties have opted in to the “Profile View History” feature, your profile visits will remain private and anonymous.

How to Enable or Disable Profile View History

To manage this setting, open the TikTok app and go to your profile. Tap the menu icon in the top right corner, go to “Settings and Privacy,” then select “Privacy.” Under that menu, choose “Profile Views” and toggle the setting on or off based on your preference.

Keep in mind, once you activate the feature, others who have it turned on will also see that you’ve viewed their profiles.
