The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on Friday conducted a search operation at Mavvel Hotel in Embu Town as part of ongoing investigations into alleged corruption and economic crimes at the National Youth Service (NYS).
The operation, executed under a court order, targeted David Mbogo Muthee, the Head of Procurement at the NYS Training School in Gilgil, alongside his associate, Naftali Kiperu.
According to the Commission, the probe centres on allegations of conflict of interest and abuse of office involving senior NYS officials suspected of irregularly trading with the agency through affiliated companies.
Preliminary findings indicate that the suspected dealings may have led to payments amounting to approximately Sh2 billion over the 2019/2020 to 2024/2025 financial years.
EACC confirmed that the search yielded key evidentiary material expected to bolster the ongoing investigations.
The Commission stated that upon conclusion of the probe, appropriate action will be taken, including prosecution of those found culpable and recovery of unexplained wealth linked to the alleged corruption.
