A family in Nairobi is appealing for help to find their missing mother, Grace Wanjira Kamau, aged 75, who was last seen on October 28 around 3 p.m. in Umoja Innercore.
According to her daughter, Joyce Ngunje, Wanjira disappeared after leaving their house while her caregiver was showering.
She reportedly walked out through the open gate and headed to a tailor’s shop in Umoja Innercore, carrying a handbag that contained a skirt, a shower cape, and two pouches.
“The tailor, who is also our neighbor, told me that my mother stayed at her shop for almost an hour. During that time, she said she wanted to go back to her rural home but didn’t want her children to know,” Ngunje said.
When Ngunje learned of her mother’s disappearance at around 7 p.m., she immediately began searching for her despite the heavy rain.
Her first stop was a nearby chemist where Wanjira often collected medication for diabetes and high blood pressure, but the staff there said they had not seen her that evening.
The following day, October 29, Ngunje continued the search across Umoja, Buruburu, and Kariobangi, but her efforts yielded no results. She also reported the matter at Buruburu Police Station, where the case is now under investigation.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Ngunje appealed to the public for assistance, saying, “We pray and hope God keeps her safe for us. She is the only living parent we have, and we would do anything to find her.”
The family has since shared Wanjira’s photo and information across social media platforms, urging anyone who may have seen her to report to the nearest police station or contact them directly.
