Family In Nakuru Mourns Loss Of Two Brothers In Tragic Road Accident

A family in Nakuru is mourning the heartbreaking loss of two brothers, David Mwangi and Paul Mwangi, who tragically died in a road accident on Saturday evening.

The siblings lost their lives when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a three-car collision at Gilgil, along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

At the Gilgil Sub-County Mortuary, family members of David and Paul Mwangi are grappling with the shock and sadness of their sudden and untimely deaths.

The brothers were on their way to Naivasha when the fatal accident occurred.

David, the eldest, and Paul, the youngest of the two, were traveling together when their lives were cut short.

David’s wife, Grace Warui, remembers the last time she saw her husband alive. She shared, “He left home around 6:30 AM to go to the farm in Naivasha.

At around 10:30 AM, I received a call and found visitors at my home, which is when I realized something was wrong.”

Paul had also left home earlier in the day. His wife, Anne Wangui, recalled the growing sense of anxiety she felt when she was unable to reach him by phone.

“I started looking for him from 4 PM, kept searching until 8 PM, and at 10:45 PM, I tried again, but his phone was unreachable,” she said.

The two brothers, along with two farm workers, were traveling in a Toyota Prado, which was later found severely damaged.

According to traffic police reports, a trailer driver attempting to overtake other vehicles collided head-on with their car.

One of the trailer’s containers fell onto the Prado, causing the deaths of David and Paul instantly. The two farm workers survived but sustained injuries.

David, who worked in the Education Department of the Nakuru County Government, is remembered by his colleagues as a dedicated and hardworking public servant.

Zippy Wangui, the County’s CEC for Education, described him as “a very diligent and dedicated man. He loved his work and was deeply committed to all of us in the department.”

The bodies of the two brothers have been transferred from Gilgil to Nakuru, where the family is now preparing for their funerals.
